"Comparative between Colored Girls and Out of Our Father's House"

            In the plays Colored Girls and Out of Our Fathers house are two plays that have similarities, but at the same time have differences. The setting in Colored Girls was a lot different from Out of Our Fathers House. In Colored Girls the setting happened in lots of different places. The setting was at a park, a girl’s house, and in my opinion the setting was in an urban part of the world.

            As I watched both of these plays I noticed a huge difference in the image. In Colored Girls all of the actors were African American, compared to Out of Our Fathers house, the characters were white. Though a lot of differences caught my attention I noticed a huge similarity among all of the characters. I noticed as the actors talked, they explained the struggles they been through throughout their lived. These struggles consisted of these women overcoming hardships and moving past them. In Out of Our Fathers house I watched the different struggles that the ladies been through in their lives. One of the ladies in this play told a story about how her children died from fever. This caught my attention because a women in Colored Girls lost her children, but not from fever. Her children were thrown off of the balcony of her house which took their lives. Even though these two women lost the lives of their precious children I noticed a similarity between the two. They both felt the same pain in their hearts that they wouldn't have forever because they would no longer be able to see their children grow up in front of their eyes.

            Colored Girls was in a completely different time period. Colored Girls took place in the 1970s. Since Colored Girls took place in the 1970s I noticed the style of clothing was completely different from what the girls wore in Out of Our Fathers House. In Colored Girls the clothes looked a lot more modern than in Out of Our Fathers house which took place in the early 1900s, so their clothes appeared to be a lot older   and Out of Our Fathers lives took place in the early 1900s. Both of these plays were incredible to watch and were very enjoyable to see.

"A School Donation"

Prompt: If an alumnus donated a large sum of money to your school, how do you think that money should be spent? Write an essay convincing school official to allocate the money in the way you think is best for the school.

            Money, every school is going to need money for a number of things. Think about it, schools need money for supplies for their students to learn such a boards, markers for the teacher to teach their lessons, computers, food, maintenance problems that may occur and the list goes on. If my school was donated a large sum of money there would be a lot that I think should be done with the money.

            My school happens to be a very small school, so with the money I would have different things built such as more classrooms, a gym, swimming pool, a track and a multipurpose room. I would have these buildings built because it will only benefit both staff and the students in dramatic ways. Some people might say well "why does she want to build all of these places in her school, a pool? Why do they even need a pool"? Here is why, if my school had a pool that would be not only fun but it would also be a great learning experience for the students and a great way for a staff members to teach their students physical education dealing with the water.

            I would take money to build a few more class rooms because my school is a college prep school that offers my peers and I to take college classes. When taking these classes different professors from the college comes to my school but there lessons must be taught in a classroom from one of my teachers at my school. I feel that this is a slight issue because the professor shouldn't have to share a class and I don't feel that it’s fair to the students who have to share a class with a lot more students than they have to.

            The reason why I would invest in a larger multipurpose room is because a small multipurpose room takes up not only time but it takes more energy from the student teacher and or guest presenting a particular subject to my peers and I. "Well how does it take up time and energy"? May be what someone may ask. I say it takes up time because since my multipurpose room is smaller our assemblies must be split up by grade, meaning four assemblies right?, ninth through twelfth. If my school has to have four assemblies then the person presenting something must do it four times and to me that can get tiring compared to if we had one larger multipurpose room the subjected or presentation will only be needed to be presented once. I would love for a donation to be made to my school because I could see the money going to good causes. At the end of the day only good things can come out of it.

"Competitive Society"

Prompt: Many people feel that American society is too competitive. Do you agree? If so, is this a good thing or a bad thing? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

            Getting a certain job, getting into the school of your dreams, there is always thousands of people who are trying to do the exact same thing as the next person, but the question is " Is the competition way to competitive"? Personally I feel that America's society isn't too competitive, only because I am the kind of person who is determined and loves to show my full ability to accomplish something. I feel that when someone works hard and proves their capability even when there are thousands of others competing for the same thing, it only makes someone appreciate it more when they earn it.

   "Well, why would she make this statement"? May be what someone may ask. I said this statement because I see when someone works hard for something virus it being handed to them. In my life, I was taught a number of things. One of those things was that someone is always going to want something that either I want or have. Being taught this didn't frighten me, it made me want to prove that I am just as wonderful, hardworking, and smart as any other person who is competing for what I want. A person who is hard working and determined as I am would most likely feel the same way that I feel.

            Though there are many people competing for the same thing I feel that this society isn't too competitive. If society was way too competitive then not a lot of people would get a chance to live out their dream. In today's society and in this life a person can do anything they set their mind to. It doesn’t matter if there are 5,10, 100, 1000 people competing for the same thing, a person with enough hard work and determination people can accomplish anything and everything they truly desire.

A Time When I Was Extremely Happy"

I have had a lot of experiences in my life when I was extremely happy. One of those experiences was in March 27^TH 2007 when my niece Justine Marie Scott was born. The reason this was a special day for me is because this was the day I officially because an auntie. Some people might say” why was she so excited to be an auntie”? The reason I was so excited was because I was becoming something I have never been before. I was used to being someone’s daughter, sister, cousin, niece granddaughter, and so on, so to become an auntie meant something special to me.

             I remember the day like it was yesterday. Now initially my niece was suppose to be born on April 4^th 2007 so she was born a few days early which made me even more excited. I remember waking up that morning and going to school so anxious and nervous for her arrival. All I could think about in class was “is she here yet, what is she going to be like”? A lot of thought were going through my head at the time. Once after school came my mom picked me up and told me we were on our way to go see Justine. When I heard those words my heart filled with joy because in just a matter of minutes I was going to be able to go see my first niece.

             Once we arrived to the hospital my heart began beating a million times faster. I remember when I walked into the room and looked at my niece Justine. What made me feel even more special was the fact that I was able to hold her. When I held her in my arms all she did was smile at me. This was a day that I will never forget because the love in my heart for Justine Marie Scott grows each and every single day.

                            “Memorable Event with my Family”

            Throughout my life I can recall a number of events that I have experienced with my family. I remember family parties for thanksgiving, Christmas, Fourth of July and sometimes we would have parties for no reason at all.

    I remember the summer of 2007 when my mom decided she wanted to have a party for my family. I thought this idea was wonderful because my cousin Nichelle was in town, and I hadn't seen her in years. Don't get me wrong, every single one of my family parties made me extremely excited, but this one was absolutely special.

            The day of the party was a fabulous day. A lot of my family members came to this party. My aunties, uncles, brother, sister, cousins, grandmother, family friends attended this party. The best part about this day was family members that I never met and haven't seen in years attended this was special to me because I bonded with them. This wasn't the average family party. We had chairs set up, barbeque pits going, music playing, and even a jumper.

            We also had karaoke contests. Round one was the adults against the children, then in round 2 it was teams between both adults and children. That day is a day I will never forget. The reason being is because bonding with my family will always be something that I will always cherish and have in my heart forever.

" My School's Litter Problem"

Prompt: In order to solve your schools recent litter problem your principle asked students to take better care of the campus, but the litter problem continued. Your principle’s reaction was to cancel all extracurricular activities but the litter problem continued. Do you agree with his reaction? Use specific reasons and examples.

    Littering, it’s never good for our environment, so I don't understand why people do it. It only makes the world look dirty and nasty. Throughout my life I have experienced people littering in all different kinds of places, which bothers me because I am a person who loves a clean environment. I have seen people litter in all kinds of places. These places include the park, beach, street, even school. To keep the litter problem from getting out of control, different laws and rules have been made. If someone litters in public places there has been laws enforced that people have to pay a fine.

    At school it's somewhat different rather than paying a fine. Certain schools do different things when students litter. Then there are also schools that don't do anything about the littering problem. One of these punishments may involve the students losing their extracurricular activities until the litter problem comes to an end. These extracurricular activities may be sports

 Dance, clubs and the list goes on. Even though I feel the students need discipline for their actions, I feel that the principle shouldn't take away these activities because not every single student who attends a school litters. I feel if all of the activities were taken away, it wouldn't be fair to the innocent students who are doing the right thing. Throughout my life I have noticed that when there is a group of students, and something has happened the way that it shouldn't, a lot of the time every single students gets punished. I feel like this "what about the innocent students who didn't do anything wrong, why should they have to suffer because their peers weren't doing what they were supposed to be doing"?  The reason I feel this way is because I have been one of those innocent students that had to suffer because of another students actions.

    I feel that this is unfair when a school has trashcans to throw away trash in. “Well the people who are littering should suffer the consequences", is what someone would say. I happen to be one of those people who feel that people should suffer the consequences for their actions. Instead of taking away the activities, maybe the principle should invest in some cameras so they can catch the students who are littering. This way the innocent students won't have to suffer for their peers wrong doings. The innocent students can continue on with their activities and daily lives and the litterers will suffer the consequences and think before they litter, especially if there is a trashcan a few feet away.

"The Age People Should Be Able to Drive"

Prompt: Most states allow people to get a driver’s license at the age of 16. Some people feel that 16 is much too young for the responsibility that comes with driving a car and that teenagers should not be allowed to drive until the age of 18. In your opinion, at what age should people be allowed to drive, and why?

 "Driving", I have noticed that when someone learns how to drive, they either love it or hate it depending on how fast or slow they get the technique of driving down. As most of us know, people aren't able to get their license until the age of 16. I am also aware that some people feel that 16 is just too young to have a license, and feel that people should be a lot older to get their license. "Well what age do you feel people should get their license"? Might be what some people might ask. I personally don't feel that there is an age where I feel that people should be mature enough to have a license. Of course I feel that the person has to be at least 16 to drive, but I feel it all should depend on the person’s mental state and mental level. "Well what does she mean by this statement"? Might be what someone may ask. Just because a person is a certain age doesn’t mean they are mature that everyone who is younger than them. I know this from experience. In my life I have met people who are older than me but they weren't mature than me, so it all depends on the persons mental state. Driving takes a lot of responsibility and focus because anyones life can be at risk when someone is behind the wheel of a car. A person must be able to stay focused and concentrate on their surroundings. Just because a person is older than someone doesn't mean that they are capable of doing these things as well as others, a younger person may be able to do these things more efficiently than the person older than them. Of course I know this doesn't happen all the time but I have experienced the younger person being mature than the older person.

    Driving may not be considered like work or taken seriously in some people’s eyes, but I feel that driving is very serious. When someone is driving, they can't only focus on only themselves. A drivers focus should be on not only themselves, but they need to focus on the pedestrians and the other drivers around them I feel if a person is responsible and can stay focused them 16 isn't too young to start driving. If a person hasn't developed these characteristics then I feel they should wait a little longer, maybe age 18 would suite them better than age 16.

"Good Habits"

Prompt: Good habits improve our physical, emotional, and or financial health. Select one of your good habits and write an essay persuading readers to make that habit a part of their lives.

    Good habits, and bad habits, some people have either one, but there are also people that have both. Bad habits in my opinion would be procrastination, not completing class work and homework, not doing his or her chores at home, being late, and the list goes on. I feel that good habits would be helping out others in any kind of way, being responsible, being respectful towards others and the list continues on. I feel that everyone should work on having good habits; it only makes their lives much easier. One of my good habits happens to be giving myself plenty of time to get certain things done. For example I am the kind of person who likes to get my homework, projects and schoolwork done, due to the fact that if I wait until the last minute to do it, something may go wrong. I have noticed that a lot of people procrastinate when they feel they have a lot of time to get a particular thing done. I notice this happens a lot of the time with students and their school work. I have noticed that some students think if they have a lot of time to complete a task, then they think they can wait until the last minute to get their work done.

    I felt like this a time in my life when I felt this way. There was a time when I was assigned a five page essay to write. I was given a month to complete this assignment. I felt that I had plenty of time to complete this assignment. Days began to pass, and these days turned into weeks. Before I knew it, it was the night before the paper was due. I remember that night being a stressful night. I stayed up almost half of the night writing that essay. Once I thought I had everything under control when I finished typing the paper, everything got worse. As I began to print out my essay my printer stopped working. I thought to myself, "This is just my luck, the one time I think I have everything under control is the time that everything begins to go wrong". After one hour of trying to fix the printer, I finally got my essay printed out.

    I feel that everyone should give themselves plenty of time to do get things done. Waiting until the last minute can make life difficult. If people are responsible then their lives will go a lot smoother because waiting until the last minute to get things done can be a headache, and I am sure that no one likes headaches.

"An Older Person I See Within a Younger Person"

                   

A little girl is who I see

"Well what's her name"? Is what someone might say

Her name is Justine and she loves to play

When I look at her I see my great grandmother

And although I never met her my heart will never forget her

Although I never met her somehow I feel connected to her

Every time I look at Justine somehow I think of my great grandmother it seems

I used to question myself about their features being the same

Come to find out my mother said the same thing

My great grandmother will live on through all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the list will continue on

She even lives on through her great great grandchildren wow that is so strong. She lives on from generation to generation, that's a true blessing from up above, coming from the heavens in the sky, she lives on even though she's in another life.

“Memoir "Don't judge a book by its cover"

Never judge a book by its cover has always been what I was taught while growing up. I was taught that a person can't base how another person’s character is by the way that they look. People come in all different shapes and forms which make them look different from someone else. Just because someone looks a certain way doesn't mean their character is a certain way. I experienced this for the first time when I was in the first grade. One day like any ordinary day, I was doing my work with my friends. Vocabulary words were what we were working on at the time when our class got a knock on the door. At the door was a staff member with a girl along with her. I remember the staff member introduced the girl to the class. Her name was Brandy. Everyone said hello to her, but she didn’t respond, she just sat in the seat that she was told to sit in. As the day went on, it was time for recess. Recess was the best part of the day to me because I loved to play with my friends.

            I remember walking to go get on the swings with three of my friends. Once we got to the swings, we were swinging, and having a good time. I noticed that Brandy was sitting alone which made me want to ask her to come swing with my friends and I. I told my friends we should ask her to come play with is, but then one of my friends said " she looks mean, and she didn't even say hi to anybody. Then I said "oh yea she didn't say hi, she's mean". After that my friends and I began to swing again. I remember being on the swings and looking up and seeing Brandy once again sitting all alone. I don't know what came over me, but something told me to just go ahead and walk up to her and ask her did she want to play with us. When I walked up to her, and said hi, she responded. I asked her did she want to play with is, and she said yes. From that day on we played every single day at recess.

Looking back I realized that people shouldn't judge someone by its cover just because someone thinks their mean. I realized that she was just shy and was a very sweet and nice girl. I’m happy that I took the time to talk up to her because I made a good friend in the process.

“Personal Essay "Disappointment"

In life people handle disappointment in very different ways. Some people yell when they are disappointed, cry, write in their journals, or others sometimes hold it all in and keep it to themselves. A time I confronted disappointment was when my favorite cousin Emoni was at my house. One day she came over right after school. Each and every single day she would come so I could help her with homework, projects, and school work to help her keep her grades up. This particular say she came over and I noticed she wasn't acting like herself. Usually Emoni would be happy telling jokes, and overall was a happy girl when she would come to my house "Now keep in mind that she was dealing with the loss of her mother during this time". This particular day Emoni was acting completely different.

 I didn’t know what it was, but I could feel that's something was wrong. I asked her what was wrong and all she said was "nothing I am fine". Even though she said she was fine, I could see it all over her face that something was bothering her. After I let her know that she could come to me about anything, I went to my room to finish one of my assignments. When I came out of my room, I found Emoni with her hands covering her face. I could tell that she was trying to hide her tears. I remember sitting down next to her and asking her again "Emoni talk to me, what's wrong?” Her hands were still covering her face and she didn't say anything to me. I started to get disappointed because I thought we were close enough that we could talk about anything. I remember getting up and walking away from her because I felt like she was holding things back from me. A few minutes later she walked up to me and she sat down next to me. I hugged her and she began to cry. She was crying because she missed her mom. All I could do was hug her and tell her I was always going to be there for her. She started to wipe her tears and I could see that I made her feel somewhat better.

Once she felt better, I told her that I was disappointed in her because I never wanted her to feel that she couldn't talk to me about anything. After that we talked about her mother. Even though it was hard for her to talk about at times, she came to me and began to feel a lot more comfortable talking to me about it, which made me feel so good inside.

Cat’s vs. Dogs.

Cats and dogs are similar in many ways but at the same time they are also different. For one they both are a type of animal. They both walk on all fours. Cats and dogs can be both inside pets but at the same time there are lots of them that live in the wild. Both cats and dogs have long tails. With all of these similarities both of these have types of animals have many differences. Even though dogs and cats walk on all fours, a lot of the time most dogs grow to be a lot bigger than cats. Of course I’m not including dogs that stay really small such as teacups, etc. Cats are much smaller than the average dog. Dogs in my opinion would be much stronger than dogs. Growing up, I always noticed the fact that dogs and cats are animals that don't get along. I remember seeing different dogs getting up when they saw a cat. I noticed that the dog would way try to attack the cat, and the cat would always be more scared out of the two animals. Dogs have much bigger teeth and claws and cats too. Another difference is of course these two different types of animals eat different types of food. Cats eat car meow and dogs eat dog food. Cats also drink different things. Cats drink milk and dogs don't. These two animals drink water and I think that's about the only similar thing that they drink.

Dressing formally vs. Dressing Informally

Dressing formally compared to dressing informally has some similarities but it has a lot of differences. Dressing formally consists of someone dressing in dressy clothes. By this I mean, when a person is dressed formally they are wearing a dress or slacks and a nice shirt if they are a girl and if they are a boy them they are most likely dressed in a suite. Informal dressing to an occasion would consist of someone dressing how they regularly dress on a regular basis. The similarity about these two is that dressing formally and informally still involves someone looking nice. For example people nowadays go to dinner parties and sometimes other want them to dress formally or they let their guests dress informally. Dressing formally can involve some one dressing up in a dress depending on if they are a girl. And for a boy he might wear a suit or a nice shirt with some jeans. Dressing informally is basically anything that a person wants to wear that is comfortable to them. It can be jeans, sweats, anything they want to wear to that particular occasion. Another place a lot of people dress formally to is to church, some people don't and that's okay. A lot of people I know dress up but some don't which is fine.

Raw Foods Vs Cooked Foods

                                         

Raw Foods and cooked foods have some similarities and have some differences. I don't eat many raw, but some people I know eat things like broccoli carrots and things like that raw. The cooked foods that I eat are chicken, corn, all meant that I like and the list goes on. The things that are similar between raw and cooked foods are the fact that anyone can eat a mean with either raw or cooked foods. For example if someone wants to have a nice meal and don't want to cook their broccoli then they can just eat it on the side. They also can eat cabbage on the side raw or cooked if they like. Cooked food always comes out hot unlike raw food. Raw food never comes out hot like the way cooked foods come out. When food is cooked it always comes out much softer than the way it went in. When people ear raw food it normally is harder compared to a food that was cooked and softened while it was cooked.

For example broccoli is always hard when it’s not cooked and when it becomes cooked while it’s in the oven; it always gets much softer than it was.

Spicy Foods vs. Sweet Foods

                                   

I feel that spicy foods compared to sweet foods only have one thing in common. The thing I feel that they have in common is the fact that some of the spicy foods taste just as good as the sweet foods. Nothing else about these foods has anything in common in my opinion. The spicy foods that are good in my opinion are hot wings. That about the only spicy food that I absolutely love to eat. Sweet foods are foods such as cakes cookies, cupcakes, these are mainly desserts. Spicy foods leave people with a hot feeling on the inside, and sweet foods leave people without that feeling. For example is someone ate hot wings, their mouth is going to be hot leaving them wanting something to drink as fast as possible depending on how spicy the food is. A sweet food such as a cake isn't going to leave the person with a hot mouth; it’s going to leave the person maybe thirsty but not as needed as the person who ate the spicy food. Spicy foods have a completely different taste compared to sweet foods.

"How Weather Affects My Mood"

The weather can affect my mood in different ways. Some people like the weather when it’s cold and some people like the weather when it’s hot. I’m the kind of person that likes the weather when it’s just warm. If the weather isn't just right it can cause my mood to go down sometimes. For example if the weather is really hot it makes me less energetic. This is because when it’s hot I tend to become very sleepy and tired. A lot of people I know say the same thing. It’s just something about the heat that makes me tired and not wanting to do anything at all. A few weeks ago the weather reached a scorching 113 degrees which made me feel so weak and tired. All I wanted to do was lie down and sleep the whole day. On a cold day I am very happy just as I am on warm days. On cold cloudy days I am always in a very good mood. I don't know but it’s something about the clouds that made me excited. My mood is usually in a great mood when the clouds come. Just because I like cloudy weather doesn't mean that I like the rain. When the rain comes I am usually happy at first but when the rain continues I begin to lose my excitement.

My mood is at its best when the weather is just right, when it’s not too hot and not too cold. I say when it’s just right is about 77 degrees, that's when my mood is at its best.

"Public Schooling vs. Homeschooling"

Public schooling! Is it any different from home schooling? I feel that even though these two are a form of schooling I feel that these two different. I feel the things that are similar between these two things the fact that the student or students have to learn and study in order to get the material that is being taught by the teacher. This is the only thing that I feel is similar between the two. Now let’s get to the differences between the two. Public schooling compared to homeschooling involves a lot my socializing. Public schooling involves kids interacting with other kids. Home schooling only involves that student and that teacher who is teaching the student.

Public schooling also involves more events such as homecoming, pep rallies, assemblies, announcements, and the list goes on. Homeschooling only involves the child getting their lesson for the day and after that their done for the day.

Public schooling lets children who work with others and get to know other children, but homeschooling doesn't allow the child to do that. Nothing is wrong with either one of them in my opinion, but kids who want to be more social should attend public school rather than home school, those are for kids who aren't as social as other children. Overall I think they both are a great form of learning for

"Comparing and Contrasting Understanding and Knowledge"

Knowledge and Understanding and similar but at the same time they are different. Knowledge is something that people in the world know. By this I mean we all have thing that we know by heart in our minds, meaning it doesn't have to be taught to us because we already know it. Understand is something that is taught in which we understand it while it is being taught to us. Some people might get confused thinking that these two words mean the same thing completely. Knowledge is something that someone will always know and will forever be in their mind which is also a form or understand but not to the full extent. For example when we learn a type of math that's a form of knowledge because once we learn it we will never forget what's already there. This is different from understanding in a way because for someone to understand something means they are still in the process of learning whatever that still needs to be taught. Meaning there is a possibility that they might forget what is being taught to them.

Understanding and Knowledge comes in all of our lives during our learning careers because we all are going to go through a process of learning something and we all are going to have things we will forever keep in our minds which is knowledge.

"A Person Who is Especially Interesting"

I have met a lot of interesting people who interested me in lots of ways. One of those interesting people that I have met was my great grandfather. He wasn't like any regular man. He was quite different in my opinion. A lot of the things he did were very interesting just because I knew him when he was a lot older than most people but he act like the youngest person. By this I mean he loved to laugh and joke around with my siblings and I. This interested me because he would tell jokes that had us all laughing. I love the fact that he was always kind to others no matter what. I remember my mother telling me a story of someone breaking into his house or car and taking his expensive items. What amazed me the most is the fact that she told me he didn't get mad. Most people I know would have been very angry and upset and would have tried to find out who it was. My great grandfather was a good hearted man and that interest me the most because I haven't met a lot of people who always stay calm and is always kind to other a lot of the time. I wish a lot more people in the world would be like that because kindness means a lot to me.

"The most Effective Teacher I have ever had"

I have had slot of effective teacher throughout my learning career. They all have changed my life in many different ways and I am truly grateful for each and every single one that I have had. I would say the most effective teacher that I have had has to my kindergarten teacher. I feel this way because she was the one than began my whole learning career. My kindergarten teacher was the one that started it all. School consists of a lot of things and writing is a main element that is involved when people go to school. This is one reason why I chose my kindergarten teacher that had the greatest effect on my life because she was the one that taught me how to write the alphabet. Learning the alphabet is a great thing because it opens the door for someone’s writing skills for life. Without learning the alphabet I wouldn't be able do any writing and I owe it my kindergarten teacher. From teaching me the alphabet she opened the door for me to expand my writing and this has helped me write personal statements, and other things in order to get into college. I appreciate her for that and thank her for that because she started my whole learning career and with the help of all my other teachers I will continue to expand it until the end of time

"How not getting enough sleep affects your day”

Sleep! We all need it; it’s something that all of our bodies require functioning throughout the day. Most of us either have to go to school or work and without sleep we will not be able to focus as well as we should. I’m going to start with school. People who are in school must have sleep for the following reasons. We need to focus of the material that is being taught by our teachers, and we also need to participate on what's going on in the class. Without enough sleep we wouldn't be able to pay attention like we should and we wouldn't want to participate to our best ability because our bodies are too sleepy. I’m saying this from my own experience. One time when I had school from a long summer break, I couldn't go to sleep because my body was so used to staying up really late, so I didn't get relaxed until about two in the morning.

Keep in mind that I had to wake up at six thirty. Going to school that morning, I only had four and a half hours of sleep. That entire day my mind couldn't focus on what was being taught because my body was so tired. I was also cranky just like a lot of people when they are sleepy. This affected my day because I didn't grasp the learning material that I could have possibly gotten compared to if I had enough hours of sleep. Not having enough sleep can also affect the workplace. In the workplace if someone doesn't have enough sleep they won't be able to do their job as effectively as they sound because they body will be tired and wanting to rest.

"My Favorite Movie"

One of my favorite movies would be the movie "Losing Isaiah" This isn't like the average movie. I say that because sometimes movies are alike and have the same plot. Losing Isaiah is an original. It stars the famous “Ms. Happy Berry". She plays a mother who was on drugs and got pregnant. When she had her baby she wasn't in her right mind because of the drugs. One night she decided that she wasn't stable enough to take care of her son Isaiah. She decided to throw him in a trash can, thinking this would get rid of all of her problems. The garbage men spotted the baby and he was rushed to the hospital and was put up for adoption. One of the doctors wanted to adopt little Isaiah, so she adopted him. About five years went part and actor Hally berry got her life together in the movie. Once she got herself together she realized that she made a terrible mistake and wanted her son back into her life. She then got a lawyer went to a program that helped her find who adopted her son. She took the family who adopted her son to court in fight for the custody of her son. Time went on and Hally berry finally won the case of having her son back in her life. Her son Isaiah moved in with her but the trouble was that he didn't want to live with her, he felt like the other woman who adopted him was his real mother, not hally berry. All he ever did was cry and try to run away and Hally realized that he was too young to understand what was going on so she called his adoptive mother to keep him until he was old enough to understand who his real mother was. Once he was old enough, he was going to move back in with his real mother.

"Learning a New Language and accomplishing this goal"

Learning a new language isn't the easiest thing for a person to accomplish. Well at least for me it isn't. I’m planning to spend a year abroad and I need to learn this new language as soon as possible. Well, what can I do in order to accomplish my goal? There are actually a lot of things I can do to accomplish this goal.

The first thing I think I should do is get a book that defines the language which if French in English and words in French. I think this would help me out in many ways. I know I am going to forget some of the words that I’m learning sometimes so to help me study I think I’m going to need a handy book to help me out. This book isn't all that I need, I need to choose a class that fits my learning style. So, since I learn with smaller classes I am going to need a small class with an excellent teacher to leach me French. While in this class I need to take as many notes as possible because I need something to help me out once I start working on my French when I get home. What else would I need? I think I would also need a tutor to teach me more French when my teacher isn't around. I need to pay attention to my tutor as if he or she were my teacher. Of course they are going to know French down to a science so I need to listen, pay attention, and stay focused. I’m sure by doing all of these thing, I will learn French in no time.

"My Favorite Music Video"

I have a lot of music videos that I like, the one that comes to mind is the destiny child music video called emotions. This video is about three young ladies who have feel in love with a man and are talking about the pain that is still there. In the music video Beyonce, kelly, and Michelle are in three different locations and are all going through some sad moments in their lives. Beyonce is sad and destryong some clothing to make her feel better. While doing this she gets a phone call from her friend named kelly who is going through family issues while also dealing with her heart being broken. Now Beyonce is going to call their friend Kelly to come so they all can meet up and help each other through their hard times that they are going through. Some people might ask why do I like this video. Well I like it because even though all three of these friends are going through things in their lives, they put it aside and can to help each other out like real friends should. I like that because people nowadays should be better friends who should show a little more care for their friends

“Teenage Fad"

Over the years, there have been many teenage fads that a lot of teens have really taken an interest to. There have been some good ones and there have been some bad ones.

A good teenage fad I have noticed us that girls have started to wear leg INS with ugs and leather jackets. People from other parts of the world might say "do they know what weather is, either they want to dress warm or if it was hot".

I feel like there is nothing with it because it’s cute for girls to wear. I feel the reason why it is so popular is because a lot of the time people see what they celebrities are wearing sometimes and they want to dress like the celebrities. I feel that this has created its popularity in many ways. Most of the time when someone who isn't a celebrity is wearing a certain thing people might notice, but they won't notice what the person is wearing as much compared to a celebrity that they see on television. I think a lot reason for the popularity of it is because some teenagers pay attention to what the designers are saying and they value the designer’s opinion. I feel like nothing is wrong with it because we all ask for someone’s opinion at one point in time in our lives, so nothing is wrong with it.

"Relationships People have with animals"

"Why do some people talk to their animals as if they were humans?" is what some people might say. Well some people feel that animals understand them a lot more than a human would and would always be there for them. I feel if a person has a relationship with an animal that is a wonderful thing. My personally I love animals, they are wonderful to me. Many people love their animals like they would love any other human on this earth, which is fine in my opinion.

Some people feel that they would be able to trust animals more than they can trust a person. For example I have watched shows where a person had a large amount of animals. This particular show dealt with a woman who had seventeen dogs and the authorities felt that was too many animals to live in one house with one person. Well her explanation for having all of these dogs was because she said she was hurt by so many people in her life that she turned to her animals. She said that she could talk to them about anything and they never judged her once she told them her secrets. The woman said that her animals always showered her with love and has never turned their backs on her.

I noticed that since she was hurt so much in her life, she felt like she couldn't trust people and felt animals will never betray her. I feel these relationships form because people either wants something to love, or they want something to love them forever and never betray them.

"Tasty Dessert"

There are lots of luscious desserts that taste absolutely fabulous. There are many cakes, cookies, brownies ice creams and the list goes on. I can imagine all different kinds of desserts that will make my taste buds scream. With all these desserts in the world, the one that comes to mind is a fabulous cheese cake. Some people say they don't like cheese cake but cheese cake has always been my favorite. Ever since I was younger I have always requested cheese cake for my birthday. The taste of it always is great and never gets old. Cheese cake is the type of dessert that can have a lot of different topping put on top of it to make it taste ten times better. Certain things like chocolates taste great on a cheesecake. Even though chocolate tastes great on top of the cheese cake I can imagine it topped with strawberries on top. Strawberries happen to be my favorite fruit and taste good with a lot of desserts.  I can imagine strawberries on top of my cheesecake dessert with a little bit of chocolate poured on top. I haven't tried cheesecakes like this but it sounds amazing because I love strawberries with chocolate, and having strawberries topped with chocolate on the cheesecake sound an absolutely fabulous dessert in my opinion.

"Modern Life without Cell Phones"

Cell Phones! Seems like everyone has one doesn't it?  Having a cell phone is a wonderful way for people to keep in contact with each other and it has also become a tool that can help someone when they are in need. Cell phones help people out in many ways. Not everyone is at home 100% of the time and we need communication when we are going out into the world.  Some people might say “they just want to get on the internet, face book text; everyone doesn't need a cell phone". This is where those people are wrong because cell phones have helped me out in many ways. One time I was at an amusement park and my friends and I decided to go on different rides. The plan was for us to meet up at a certain spot at a certain time. One I got off the ride I went to our location that were we supposed to meet at. My friends weren't there. I waited about 10 minutes and I decided to call one of them on my cell phone. It turns out that the ride they were on got stuck as they were about to end the ride. Having a cell phone helped me out because I didn't have to worry what happened to my friends, if they were safe and sound, and I knew exactly where to find the ride they were at. If I didn't have a cell phone in this situation I wouldn't have known where they were, or where to look for them at. Cell phones nowadays are very necessary especially in serious situations; you never know when you are going to have to get into contact with someone you know.

"A foreign country I want to visit"

I would like to visit the country I would like to visit is France. There are many countries I would like to visit but France has always caught my attention. Ever since I can remember I always wanted to visit France. French has always been one of the many languages that I always wanted to learn. It’s just something about it that made me want to learn the language. Growing up I would always watch television shows when people from France would begin speaking French and they way they speak it sounds like the most be the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. Another reason why I want to visit this country is because it looks like such a beautiful place to be. A lot of movies that I have watched have certain scene when he actors were in France and it looks like a place where all the people there are full of love. I’m the kind of person who wants to be happy and peaceful a lot of the time so I feel France can really bring that side out of me if I visit. With all the positive things I have heard and seen about France I want to go and explore this beautiful place.

"Choosing the Right College"

Choosing the right college involves a number of things to choose from. Everyone is different and has different needs and wants, so choosing a particular college depends on the person him or herself. Different colleges offer different majors and not every college has ever single major that a person might have in mind. When choosing a college, the person needs to look off into the majors that college is offering. Some people might say “well what if I don't know what major I want"? That's a good question, if you don't know what major you want, think about the things you like to do and compare them to the majors that college is offering. Another important thing to choose from is the class size. Some people learn better in bigger classes, others learn better in smaller classes. You need to look off into if the college classes are taught in big or smaller classes. This would be very important for everyone who wants to go to college to look off into because a person who learns better with smaller class sizes wouldn't do as well if they are in a class with forty to fifty students in their class. The next thing that I feel is extremely important for a person to look off into is if the school is a party school or not. A person may not like to go to parties but if they are attending a party school they may hear a lot of parties going on almost every day.

This is something I feel everyone should consider when choosing a college as well because someone may like to study in peace and quiet and it may be hard for them to study if there is a party going on in the same hall. Even though choosing a college seems like a simple task, it takes a lot of thought.

"My Best friend’s Birthday"

Oh my gosh, my best friend’s birthday is coming up, what am I going to for her. Let’s see, I’m going to need a location, birthday invitations for her surprise party, and something that I know will make her have the best birthday ever. I’m doing to need someone to distract her for the day. I can have her sister take her to the mall to shop for hours while I get all of our friends in the surprise location. My best friend love to eat at Benihannas so that where I’m going to have every one show up. All of my best friend’s favorite food will be made and I will have a special cheese cake delivered one she arrives. Once everyone arrives with their gifts I will seat all of them and wait for my best friend to enter the room for us to sing her happy birthday. Once she comes in we will all sing her happy birthday and give her all of her gifts. After that we we all eat, dance ect. Toward the end I will have her favorite singer come out and sing happy birthday to her. Her favorite singer is omarion. "Well how would she get Omarion to come, she doesn't know him like that." Is what some people might say. Omarion is a friend of my family and he will come. Once he sings my best friends favorite song to her I know she will remember this birthday forever.

"The Decade I Would Live In"

If I could live in any decade I would live in the 19 90s

Yes I know what you all are thinking." Wasn't she born in the 90s"? Yes I was but I was little and I don't remember any other stuff that happened in the 90s. My mom always tells me about how the 90s was so different compared to how it is now.  I always hear stories about how all these good rappers were out back then and how back then everyone was nice to each other all the time and only wanted to have a good time. My mother always tells me stories and she always compares this decade to how it was in the 90s. One thing that she talks about the most is how crime rate was much lower compared to how it is now. Don't be mistaken, there was crime in the 90s,there has always been crime going on but now its way worse to how it was back then. This is a big deal to me because I would like to live when crime wasn't as bad as it is today. I would love to live during a time when I didn't really have to worry about thing things that people were going to do. I would like to live during a decade when everyone just wanted to have fun and be peaceful.

"Appreciating your Parents"

                         

Everyone was brought into the world by two parents. I feel that's one of the many blessings that someone can have. What we all must realize is our parents are the reason why we are here and that's one reason why we need to appreciate them because if it wasn't for them then we wouldn't be living life as we are today. When we all were born we couldn't just take care of ourselves on our own. We needed someone to take care of us. We needed someone to feed, change, bathe, hold, hug kiss, and play with us. We weren't brought into the world capable of doing all if these things for ourselves. Our parents were the ones that did these things for us. I know for a fact I appreciate my mother for doing this for me because if she didn't do this for me then I would have live to see the age that I am now. Our parents were the ones that bought food for us to eat and nourish our bodies with, they bought the clothes that we wore and provided us with a house and home to live in during our lives, I know my mother did. Before I was of age to get a job I needed money and my mother was the one who gave it to me. Certain things she did made me appreciate everything about her because if it wasn't for her I wouldn’t have have anything. Our parents are the ones who got us medicine when we were sick, hugged us tight when we fell and were crying. I feel that we all should appreciate our parents because they aren't going to be here always, and even when they are gone you still can appreciate them. My father isn't in this world anymore but I appreciate him for that fact that if it wasn't for him them I wouldn't be in this world. We all should honor our parents for these many reasons but mainly because they gave us life.

Smaller Families Vs Larger Families

 Prompt: A few decades ago, many families had half dozen or more children. Nowadays more and more families are choosing to have only one or two children. Are smaller families better than larger ones? Why or why not? State your position and support it with specific reasons and examples.

            It is always a beautiful and amazing experience when a child is brought into the world. Every single day a child is born and it is truly a blessing. With these blessings are also more difficult lifestyles for people who decide to have more and more babies. In my opinion I feel that smaller families are better to have because of how the economy is. I feel that if the economy wasn’t so bad, then the larger ones would be better, I feel the more the better. With this terrible economy going on, I feel that smaller families would live much easier. Think about it, the cost of things compared to how it was many decades ago had dramatically changed. Nowadays things cost a lot more than they used to. I feel that if the family is larger, there is going to be a lot more spending that the parents have to spend to take care of their children. Spending money on things such as school supplies, clothes, shoes, food, not to mention the cost of living alone would be expensive when a family has a lot more than two children.

             My auntie has two children of her own, she then got married to her husband and he had three children of his own when he came into the marriage. Certain things such as buying school supplies, clothes, for etc for two children is a lot different now because her and her husband now have five children to take care of and provide for them. I’m not saying that with smaller families that families won’t struggle, but I feel they won’t have to worry about providing for all the children that he or she needs to support. If people decide to start families, I feel they should try out the smaller family first and see how they like it. I’m sure that they will be a lot more affordable than a family with a lot more children to take care of. If a family is financially stable to support all of these children, then why not a larger family, but have if not a smaller family would be the better decision in my opinion.

 After all the family would most likely have more money left over to do other things such as pay bills, for more food etc. At the end of the day, the family with one, two, or three children would be spending less money than the family that has a lot more children.  I don’t know about other families but I would like t save my money or spend it on something else, maybe a family vacation perhaps.

"Preserving Family History"

Preserving family history is very important in my opinion. Think about it, there is so much that we on a long time ago in each and every single person’s family. There are so many questions I would ask an older relative. I would ask the full names of my ancestors. I would want to know a lot about them since I never got a chance to meet all of them. I would want to know their birthdays and the exact years they were born. I know for a fact that my great grandfather was an escaped slave, so I would ask if any more of my family members were bold enough to try to escape. My great grandfather escaped by singing in another language with another slave, that's how they planned their escape. I would ask what made him so brave to plan that escape. I would also ask what was like where they lived. What kind of things did they do in their daily lives? I would also ask how and where did my greats meet each other and where did they meet. I would ask how their childhood was growing up. Was it an easy childhood, hard childhood, what did they like to do when they were younger.

“My Master Plan to Make My Community A Better Place"

Peace, Love and Happiness would be my three goals into making my community a better place to live in. To make my community a better place I would want to have rally's that stand for peace love and happiness. I have seen a lot of communities that aren't united as one and if a community isn't united then I feel that the community would be at its best. My plan would involve rally’s that get people in the community involved. At my rally for the community I would have a lot of activities that brings everyone closer as if they were a family. One of my activities would be a tell all, meaning that we tell each other what's going on in our lives and in my opinion when people talk about what's going on in their lives I feel that will bring them closer. Another thing I would do at this rally would be to promote peace and love. I would speak on how I feel we should all treat each other and challenge the people in my community to live up to this challenge. I would also challenge people from my community to help others if they see someone in need, and to keep our community a cleaner place. I would like my community to be nice and clean, this helps the health of the people living in the community. If people in my community can live up to these challenges then every once in a while we would have a party as a community to celebrate all the good things we are accomplishing as one.

"A Typical Day in My Life"

What's a typical day in my life you ask? Okay it goes a little something like this. The alarm goes off at 6:30a.m every morning for me to wake up and get ready for school. I don't know about most people but I absolutely hate the sound of the alarm clock in the morning. It’s the worst sound that someone can hear early in the morning. I wake up stretch and I head to the bathroom. After that I go eat my breakfast. Once I’m done eating my breakfast I pick out my outfit for the day then I go brush my teeth, wash my face and take my shower. Once I’m done showering I go to my room and turn on the news for a second to see what the weather is going to be like. After that I put on my lotion, accessories etc. Then I get my book bag ready to go to school. Once I arrive to school, I socialize with my friends before class. I’m a person that likes to socialize. Once class beings I go into my learning mode, ahah meaning I’m focused on learning for the most part. Once school is over I go somewhere before I go home, either to get something to eat, or star bucks or a relative’s house. I always go somewhere before I go home. Once I get home I begin my homework while listening to music and or watching television. If I have a test coming up I study for the test as well. Once my homework and studies are over I relax while watching television, or talking on the phone. I get sleepy around 10:30 so before then I take my shower and brush my teeth to get ready for bed. After that I lay down and watch television, while I’m on my phone texting, or aiming before I fall asleep. like or love.

"A Vegetable I Dislike"

A vegetable that I truly dislike are peas. Ever since I was younger I could never eat my peas when my mom would ask me to. Something about the taste of peas made me dislike them so much. I remember when I was younger and my mom would make dinner, he would always have some type of vegetable to go along with the meal. Sometimes there green beans; sometimes there was corn and sometimes there was my absolute favorite vegetable which is broccoli. I would always finish my vegetables whenever one of those was served, but never my peas. My taste buds could never bring me to finish them completely. Of course I would try to finish all of my peas because my mother wanted me to, but I really hated the taste of them. I remember one time when I was younger; my mom wanted me to finish my peas before I could have my ice cream. I Remember her saying  if you don't finish your peas you won't get any ice cream". I was upset because I really wanted my ice cream, so when she wasn't looking I gave them to my sister and my sister ate the peas for me. To this day I can't eat a whole spoon full of peas; the taste is such an awful taste to me. That's just the one vegetable I will never ever learn to like or love.

“My Favorite Season"

My favorite season would have to be the summer time. The weather is nice and warm, so I can do certain things like going to the beach, water parks with my family and taking beautiful family vacations. All of the other season is cool too but summer is the season where I have the most fun. When summer comes there is no school for me, well unless I’m not doing summer school. If I’m not attending summer school I get to do a lot more activities than when I’m in school during the other seasons. I get to sleep in later and who doesn't love that? I get to stay up however late as I want. I get to stay out longer not worrying about the fact that I have to get up for school in the morning. Summer is also the time when basically my whole family takes vacations. Some of the vacations that my family has token has been to Palm Springs, San Diego and Vegas. I love these trips because I get to relax with my family and do a lot of things while I’m out of town, and I love being out of town. I am the kind of person who loves warm weather because I don't have to stay in the house all the time because if it raining or being very cold. I love to go swimming and summer is the time I go swimming a lot, I also go to water parks with my family during the summer. Over all summer time is the season when I get to relax my mind from everything, this makes summer my favorite season out of the four seasons.

“Brothers and Sisters"

Siblings, either brothers or sister get along or like most siblings I have come into contact with don't always get along. A lot of the times brothers and sisters don't get along because they argue about silly things. For example when I was younger I used to argue with my big brother all the time just because I was mad at the fact that he was older, ahahaha I wanted to be the oldest. Other things we would argue about were who was going to sit in the front seat of the car, and why he felt he should play the video game longer than me. Now that I look back at these silly arguments I realized they were all pointless.

These arguments create problems in families because if a brother and sister have younger siblings, it’s not good for the younger to see their older brother sister arguing all the time about silly things. Not only do the siblings not want to see this arguing going on but I’m sure that the parents of these children don't want to break up the arguments all the time. I know for a fact when my older and I would argue when I was younger my mother would get mad at us for disturbing the house.

I feel the best way to handle situations like these is to talk the problems out. I feel that talking the problems out make it easier for everyone who is involved because arguing is the worst possible way to handle a situation because nothing ever gets resolved when that happens.

My Personal Statement Replacing # 30

                       In live I have had many experiences that will forever stay in my heart. I have had good ones, bad ones, happy ones, and sad ones, and each and every single one of them will always be in my heart. Some people might say "why would she keep the sad ones in her heart?" There are many reasons why I keep them there. The sad ones help me continue being the strong young lady I've become and will continue to be throughout the rest of my life.

On June 28th 2996, I was told that my aunt was in the hospital because she was suffering from a stroke when I heard the news; I was truly at a loss. I was confused; all I could think was "why is this happening? I hope that everything will be fine". What made things worse was the fact that my cousins had to stay with us while this was happening. I felt helpless because there was nothing I could do or say to make either of them feel better, this was their mother. My aunt was put on life support and days began to pass, and my aunt was in a coma. At that point, my worry began to escalate because all I wanted was for her to wake up and for her to be fine. By the fifth day of her being in her coma, she began to move her hands. When I heard the news about her moving her hands, joy filled my heart because there was progress being made. At that point, I felt like she was going to be fine and recover from this terrible experience. On July 6th 2009, my family and I were in the waiting room of the hospital when the doctor came in. So mush was going through my mind and all I wanted was for him to tell my family good news. Once he opened his mouth, my bigger fear came true. He told us that the best thing for us to do was to take her off of life support. When I heard those words all I could do was cry, In my mind I was thinking "this isn't fair, my life will never be the same without her in my life. Days turned into weeks and nothing seemed like it was getting any better. All I did was hold in my emotions at times I was thinking "I have to be strong for my cousins so I can't let them see me cry or talk about how I was feeling." One day I couldn't hold in my emotions anymore and I talked to my mother. She let me know that everything will be fine, and even though my aunty wasn't here physically, she will always be in my heart. At that time I dint feel like everything was going to be alright. Months began to pass and the pain I felt began to ease. I wasn't forgetting about my aunty but I realized that she was in a much better place smiling down at me. That feeling comforted m and still dos to this day when I begin to feel sad. That experience made me stronger and it relates to the kind of person I am because I am the kind of person to bring the positive out in the negative situations. Even though it still hurts, it made me realize just because a loved one passes away doesn't mean you have lost them forever, I am proud of myself for realizing this, even if it took me a while.

This choice of shoes started off general because there are many different types of shoes in the world. To be more specic I talked about the different sizes of shoes. I began to talk about the shoe being comfortable because there are some shoes that aren't comfortable. Sports shoes in my opinion are comfortable and a type of sports shoe is a Nike shoe.

3.Jewlery...sparkles...ring...diamond ring...worn on a finger...worn on my ring finger.
The general choice that I chose was jewlery. To be more specic I said that this jewlery sparkles because some jewlery doesn't. I chose the type of jewelry which was a ring. There are different kinds of rings so I chose a diamond ring. I said the ring is worn on a finger because some people wear them in different places. Then I chose the ring finger.

"College admissions Test"

Being able to go to college is a wonderful thing that people get to experience. They get the privilege of continuing their education in order to have the career they desire, living in dorms, or their own apartments, meeting a lot of new people and the list goes on. With all of these wonderful things going on while a person is in college there are a lot of things that a person must complete in order to be admitted into college.

To achieve the goal of getting admitted to college you must have good grades mainly from ninth grade year all the way to your twelfth grade year. To have a and b grades is a wonderful thing but having d and fs will not get a person admitted into college, that's if they want to get into a good college. Another thing a person that colleges look at most of the time is the sat and act scores. Having high scores on these two tests can also help a person achieve this goal of getting into college.

Getting into college isn't something easy that anyone is capable of, it takes hard work and dedication because if a person is lazy then they will most likely never achieve this goal.
